Today is an important day for everyone. For those who have spent the last 8 years watching the Bush administration tear down the functionality of America, today means more than just a new president. Today, I truly feel proud to be an American. And with my feelings, I do not view myself nor this country as superior to anyone else in any other nation.

Why I’m choosing Obama.
In politics on April 2, 2008 at 6:18 amI support Barack Obama. I do not support any other running candidate.
This morning on NPR, I was listening to a lady in Philadelphia whine that she “hasn’t heard anything intelligent” from Obama. This lady is entitled to her opinion, but she is inaccurate in terms of how true political intelligence is measured.
Obama seems right for the job. He’s unique, innovative but accommodating, insightful, and supportive of true American values, of which freedom and justice sit closest to mind.
The icebreaker for my choosing of Obama as my candidate of choice was his ideas about setting aside our differences, though not abandoning our uniqueness and individuality that has developed from those differences, and working together as one body. Working together towards a goal is much better than competing for a goal. If a single team, working together, pursues a particular goal, the outcome is strong, it is observable, it is life changing (and perhaps culturally changing), and it is healthy. If, however, we continue the spirit of competition between multiple teams of people working for different agendas and goals, not only can we expect the same results, but we can also expect to devalue the meaning of a journey and the power that such a concept has on a developing country. Working as one team will help us see that the journey towards a goal is a vital piece of the puzzle in national stability.
For eight long years, America has been bred to believe that fear is the driving force of action. This is not true. There is nothing positive that comes from war. If we really wanted to protect our values and improve the security of America, why go to another land thousands of miles away to kill thousands of people that did not deserve to die? Defensive security is the most practical form of protection. Offensive security may seem effective, but in reality, it uses many more resources to accomplish the goal, which is ultimately, a secure environment.
I support Obama because of his unmatched emphasis on working together as a team. It is a remarkable perspective on society and I consider this to be a positive perspective.
Instead of bashing other candidates, I want to recognize Barack Obama as being at a higher level of preparedness than the other candidates running for presidency.
Barack is ready to take on the real challenges that face our society in this day and age.
Guess How I Know
In politics on January 3, 2008 at 10:35 amDear fellow American,
I am officially convinced that the current administration as well as dozens of other entities, (none of which I am able to cite), are nothing more than greedy sloths that only have their personal interests and agendas at hand. And to appear as though they are serving the interests of the people, the current administration and other entities continually pester us about “the children”, “education”, and “the anti-drug”.
If it really came down to defending our homeland, the Bush Administration and the policies and regulations that it has brought to the table would be the least amount of help to the American people in a time of need. The American people never asked to be protected by giving up personal freedoms and civil liberties. I am sure there is some legal sweet-talker out there who would interject that no ‘personal freedoms’ or ‘civil liberties’ have actually been ‘given up’. Instead, the legal sweet-talker may say that ‘certain measures’ have been ‘taken’ in order to ‘protect’ the American people, but if you really trace the meaning of each of these statements back to a common and primitive theme, that theme would be the loss of personal freedom for the benefit of the hegemonic powers that be.
I am an American citizen. If you are questioning my level of credibility, I will not hesitate in admitting that I have limited if any credibility in the arena of political science. But that does not mean that I can not have an opinion on this topic. I am a student, 17 years old, from the eastern part of Michigan. If you really wanted to track me down, you could. I am proud to be an American, but I am upset with the direction that our current administration is leading our country. I do not think it is wise nor insightful, but instead a quick-fix to a larger problem.
Before September 11, 2001, American citizens did not favor additional homeland protection from the status quo at that time. The reason that no one favored it was because it was not an issue that was being pressed by the media or the government. Life was figuratively more ‘free’ than it is now.
I know for a fact that our federal government is not interested in serving the interests of the people. I know this because of all of the secrecy, greed, and fowl-play that occurs behind the scenes in the political arena. If our government had the American people’s best interests in mind, we would not be in the political and national pickles that we are in now. We would not be comically insulting our current administration and they would not be laughing at the fact that we are comically making fun of them.
This is one of the first times in history where it has been easier than ever to spread information about virtually anything. With the progression of certain mediums such as Youtube, the American people, and the entire world are better informed as to what is going on. Of course, you must realize that what we see on Youtube is barely scratching the surface of what is really going on, but it is a step in the right direction.
If you happen to be in support of the war in Iraq, you may use the argument that this is not the only war to ever occur. That may be true. But this is the first war that has received this amount of federal cover-up in terms of what is going on and why it is going on. Instead of being told the truth, we are instead receiving reason after reason why it is wise to invade a certain country. No proof is ever given when giving these reasons. It simply ‘is’. Perhaps our federal government has forgotten that the CIA is not exactly perfect and doesn’t know everything.
Only through governmental transparency will our nation improve to what it once was. A land of free people. Now we glance over our shoulders out of fear while driving to make sure a cop isn’t around to pull us over for something we didn’t do. Now we question legality of simple courtesies ensured by freedom like standing on a public sidewalk, taking pictures in public places, and not allowing a cop or an authority to search your belongings without a warrant.
These freedoms are being treated like they never existed by the mainstream media. When the topic of whether or not a certain behavior is legal or not, no one in the mainstream media treats the waning freedoms as permanent and guaranteed benefits of being an American. Instead the mainstream media treats our dying freedoms as the icing on the cake, and somehow without it, we’ll still manage just fine. This is the biggest lie of the century. The freedom that we have as American citizens is not a “privilege” that can be taken and given as needed by the powers that be. The freedom that we have as American citizens is a right; and without that right, being an American is worthless. Without any or all the personal freedoms that were originally guaranteed to us by the founders of this country, the effort that our ancestors put into defending this country for the sake of freedom is void and means nothing more than a chapter in a history book.
I refuse to let my country go under to a hoard of greedy men and women hellbent on controlling world agendas and pressing their own personal agendas at the sake of other nations.
Fear is the number one reason why people are not doing anything to stop this quickly spreading disease. There is nothing to be afraid of. America and the freedom that has been guaranteed by the original founders is to be defended until the very last man or woman falls. I refuse to give up my personal freedoms and I refuse to comply with any legislation that may oppose or remove any of my guaranteed freedoms.
We need to do something before it is too late.
I hope you take this to heart, fellow American.
Sincerely,
Trevor B.
Extended Response to an offensive comment made by Youtube member: bradyclaire
In politics on December 25, 2007 at 7:02 pmbradyclaire (34 minutes ago [about 6:30pm EST]): “George Bush graduated from Yale. Where did Keith Olbermann go to school? Also, Iran’s president has stated that he wants to destroy Israel. How about Iran’s attempts to obtain a nuclear bomb? How about Iran’s support of the insurgents fighting our troops? I think our president has a bit more knowledge about the actual situation in the Middle East than a CNBC anchor. How about showing some respect for the US President? President Bush loves his country.”

My extended comment to bradyclaire’s statement:
Uh, wrong. Bush is a greedy asshole. He isn’t the first and he sure as hell wont be the last. He doesn’t care about his country because he is destroying the possibilities for millions of children to receive adequate health care. Where does one begin to express his or her care for the land? The first step is by caring about its people. When you care about your land, you must care about the future of the land, therefore, you must care for the children. Bush, up to this point, has not exhibited ANY behavior that supports this.
You, bradyclaire, are wrong with your assumption that Bush cares about his country. He cares about himself and his wallet. And not only that, but you reveal your lack of education by inaccurately stating that Keith Olbermann did not go to school by asking where Keith Olbermann went to school. Keith Olbermann went to Cornell University. If you don’t believe me, look it the fuck up.
And I would say that a news anchor, even without being to the middle east, has far greater knowledge of what is going on in the middle east because of co-workers and media-affiliates. President Bush does not even go out into the public on a day to day basis. Do you really think that he knows the extent of what is happening in the middle east? Do you really think he cares? You are trying to convince yourself of something that is not true, that you somehow think will come true if you wish hard enough.
President Bush gets NO respect in my book because he has not and does not represent, in any form, the core values upon which The United States of America was founded. He has instead gone against the values which founded our nation. Scientifically and logically speaking, President Bush can not be regarded as one who deserves respect for his achievements, at least by American citizens because Bush has deliberately and blatantly taken the role of a accusative patriarchal male hellbent on an offensive agenda for personal gain as opposed to the betterment of this country.
If you ask me, that is pretty fucking selfish. A President who deserves respect is a humble president and a compassionate, understanding, and logically thinking President. These are all things that President Bush is not.
I don’t care what anyone says about respecting authority. If the authority is single-handedly responsible for the destruction of the values that I have been raised on, you better bet your life that I am going to fight to make sure that my freedom stays. No freedom no peace. Why the fuck do you think they say that?
No Nukyulars in Iran, yet he does not stop.
In politics on December 5, 2007 at 1:02 pmThis is a response to this article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071204/pl_afp/usirannuclearbush_071204153738
I can not believe that our elite administration is so obsessed with controlling the foreign happenings of other countries. It is sickening to know that even though Iran stopped producing nuclear materials back in 2003, Bush is still trying to push his agenda.
Bush’s remarks are non-other than that of a racist and a hateful discriminator. “The best way to ensure that the world is peaceful in the future is for the international community to continue to work together to say to the Iranians we are going to isolate you.” Is this the way we want our kids to grow up to think? I thought we were trying to create a world where peace was a possibility or at least an agenda everywhere and not just in selected locations.
We need intervention. Right now. The most I can do is mail letters to our representatives, and that is what I am doing, but I am getting no response. It is not working. Something needs to be done. I am only 17 years old and my country is being led by forces who want to regress to an old style of thinking and living.
I am proud to live in America, but I am deeply saddened by the hegemonic leadership styles of our elected leadership.
Have we reached the 9th of 10 steps to close down a free society w/ HR1955?
In politics on December 3, 2007 at 3:48 pmThis article points out the 10 steps necessary to close an open society, and it seems that with H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007, the 9th step of Dissent = Treason is finally coming to fruition, with this new act labeling US citizens as terrorists if they have “an extremist belief.”
Senate Bill to Criminalize Thoughts, Blogs, Books and Free Speech
In politics on December 1, 2007 at 3:40 amThe end of Free Speech in America has arrived at our doorstep. It’s a new law called the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, and it is worded in a clever way that could allow the U.S. government to arrest and incarcerate any individual who speaks out against the Bush Administration, the war on Iraq, etc.

In politics on October 2, 2007 at 3:48 pmAmerican citizens, American businesses, and American kids are being systematically forced into a sense of fear by the American Government. Through the use of communicative persuasion techniques and by emulating a conformation to popular culture, the United States Government seeks to alter the thoughts and actions of the American people. By answering the ‘what-ifs’ and ignoring the reality, the American Government is determined to achieve a certain agenda by giving the illusion that the American people know about everything that is going on and have a voice in modern American politics.
The actuality of an accurately informed and democratic American public is false. By allowing the American government to inform and represent the American public, we are giving power to certain individuals and individual businesses that by no means represent the epitomes of the traditional American values of freedom and liberty.
By creating a sense of fear in the American public, the American government has the ability to appear larger than it really is and it is able to convince the American people that for the sake of feeling safe, it is Ok to sacrifice the liberties and guaranteed rights of being an American. There is no better document to model this statement than the Patriot Act.
In order to make these actions less obvious, the American government is making an effort to persuade the American public that the true thing to fear is each other. There is no better document to model this statement than the NoFEAR act.
Here is a list of sites that are designed by the American government that are designed to alter the truth by distorting reality:
Department of Homeland Security
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
This is how lawmakers vote
In politics on September 28, 2007 at 7:18 pm
It is sad that this is probably exactly how governmental corruption ends up occurring. I am ashamed to be an American and I would be lying if I said that we live in a country where a vote actually counts.
Police State cop shows kids what it is like to be treated like an American
In politics on August 13, 2007 at 4:23 amThere has been a mix-up in this country. I am not sure when or where this mix-up occurred, but something is horribly different. Why is it that people are afraid of the police? Shouldn’t people feel safe around the police as they really are a vital part of the safety of everyone’s community?
Why is it that there is more and more of these types of stories about cops who are out of control? Certainly it is not all because of the growing popularity of the internet and the easy ability someone has to communicate to the entire web.
President Signs USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act
In politics on August 5, 2007 at 5:18 pmThe President is now, without any hesitation or conviction, distorting and cross-breeding a piece of legislation originally intended solely to combat actual “terrorism” and is now stretching this legislation to combat “local drug dealers” and “terrorists here at home”.
